They actually sell them at REI - little wooden things. You can buy an Actual Product called a glider-bike or some such, and it's like a bike that will never have pedals. Lets the kids learn balance first, before the whole pedalling thing.

(OR you can just use a regular bike, lower the seat, and take the pedals off, like your REI folks did.)Jennifernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6214008852340471685.post-36902070951415318092010-02-08T10:31:52.949-08:002010-02-08T10:31:52.949-08:00Thanks, Penelope. It's too late for me to change that for my little guy, but it totally makes sense. I love when actors learn new skills for roles; I would think this is one of the coolest things about the profession.

Josey - What a fun game! That's kind of what we were doing yesterday to start out with, but minus the pedaling really hard. Although once my pedals were on, I was all, PEDAL PEDAL PEDAL FAST and gliiiiiiiide for like an hour and a half. :)Kimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12548150437127473109noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6214008852340471685.post-84795688027300434832010-02-08T08:41:34.069-08:002010-02-08T08:41:34.069-08:00It's funny - I never before thought of the fre...It's funny - I never before thought of the freedom you gain from being able to ride a bike. I do have very fond *FUN* memories of being a kid and having bike races with my sisters though. Our driveway was 1/2 mile long, and the first flat 1/4 mile we'd pedal as hard as we could and then the last downhill, windy 1/4 mile we'd "glide" with our feet off the pedals and see who could get the farthest before their bike stopped. I nearly always won b/c I was the oldest and my legs were the strongest. I think that's why I liked the game so much. :)Joshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13423295019681051881noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6214008852340471685.post-4742174867124070002010-02-08T04:07:22.655-08:002010-02-08T04:07:22.655-08:00Woooooooo! You're a super star! A super star! ...Woooooooo! You're a super star! A super star! Wooooooo!!

When my dad took the training wheels off my pink princess bike I threw a fit the whole neighborhood remembers. And then I refused to ride a bike ever again. Fast forward a few years. I'm ten. I've just booked my first TV role because I'm a kid who can ride a bike. Even though I can't. I have to be able to ride a bike the day after tomorrow or else they'll fire me. My mom lets me stay home from school and even though she's never ridden a bike in her life, she teaches me how to ride my bike without training wheels, we practice all day, and I shoot the next day without incident.
