One Week, Two Pictures

Every Friday, before work, I pick up the bagels for the office. On my route, I drive by this lovely little hidden view of the bay. It's not much, but it perks me up a little to see the water. Below are two pictures, taken on two Fridays, one week apart. One week, the Golden Gate bridge was remarkably visible - the next, it was buried in the fog and clouds. It's crazy to me how much the weather changed in just a week. I guess it's not so crazy at all, but I liked seeing how my little 'secret' view changed. Today, it was dark and cloudy in the morning, but when I took my lunch break, the sky was blue and it was *almost* warm (I wore a long-sleeved Tshirt and a sweater). Weather is weird. I like it.

  1. Love this. I am always telling my friends that someday I'd really like to take a photo of the exact same place (whether a tree or a building or a sign or whatev) at the same time every day for a year. Wouldn't that make an awesome video? You'd be like watching the progression of time. The only prob is I can't think of anywhere that I could consistently be every day for a whole year.

  2. That does sound like such fun! I wish I had framed the photos better (or not been too lazy to mess with cropping) so that they were in *exactly* the same place :)

  4. i find myself taking pictures of the same things over and over again, just because of the way the light hits certain spaces at different times of the day. i'm also noticing how much weather can change scenes, and trying to take good photos despite the dreary november environment around here! it's a challenge, but a welcome one. love this post! :)

  5. Thanks! I find myself taking pictures of this one corner of my living room a lot because of the different ways the light hits the walls/table/blinds/etc. The pictures never come out quite like I want them to though (always too dark, not warm enough, etc)...guess I need a better camera ;-)

  6. Maybe the key is to not worry too much about eactly! I once saw a spread in a magazine that was of a child growing up over many years...not every year...sitting on a chair at the kitchen table. Not only did she grow and change, but the furniture, wallpaper etc changed over time. She went from unable to even reach the floor to a slouching teenager. It was a wonderful commentary on a family history of time, place, style...evolution! I wished I had seen this idea years ago as I would have done it for sure! But alas my children are grown so I must think of another cool idea:)

  7. I love picture collections like that, Nancy. A popular thing right now seems to be to take pictures of yourself from the same angle/in the same place during different stages of pregnancy (I've seen many friends and bloggers do this recently). That, and the one of a child growing up, would be kinda cool to see all sped up in a slideshow/movie type thing.
